the drill is not for heavy duty, high speed, for long time usage. It is prefect for short time usage & minor drilling. It very convent being cordless & to have as second drill ready to go for detail work. For the price I would buy again. But test the drill within 30 days of receiving it to make sure it does not freeze up. I returned the 1st drill within the 30 days because the drill stopped working. Amazon was great about the return no problem from them.

This is a great tool with good battery life (duty cycle) to do all my jobs. This has replaced the 4.8v dremel 10x over and its definitely worth the price while the battery is working.

However the battery now is dead and replacement will cost $42 + shipping back to the nearest Dremel service center. I thought that this is information that I would liked to have had on this tool before purchase. For some reason I assumed the battery was replaceable. I bought a corded 4000 in the meantime trying to decide if I really need a cordless tool for an additional $40 for maybe another 2 years... it goes by pretty quickly.

It's a great idea and should be a five star tool because of its wide range of uses combined with great portability. Unfortunately, it just doesn't hold up over time. I bought mine a couple years ago through Amazon (long enough to be past its warranty) and it won't hold a charge anymore. Since there's no way to replace the battery, it's junk. For the first year maybe, it worked very well - though I never used it that hard or all that frequently. Then it started cutting out every once in a while, requiring a restart only to have it cut off again when any pressure was applied. Then it stopped working altogether.

I'm willing to try the 8000 model because I got to used to a cordless tool, so we'll see if that one holds up a little better. The good news is, that one has a replaceable battery so I have more confidence in it than I do with this one. The pistol grip is a nice feature, but I'm more than willing to sacrifice that for a tool that might actually stick around for a while.

I have dogs that I show in obedience, agility, conformation, and tracking. Keeping their nails short and neat is essential for appearance and for their safety. I have used Dremel tools to "trim" dogs' nails for many years. The Stylus is by far the best of the lot. It has higher available rotation speeds for pain free and quick trimming, the light weight and pistol grip gives me more options when holding the tool. I really appreciate the quick re-charge, and the fact that it then stops charging, holding the charge for a long period of time. This is a wonderful improvement on the older cordless models.

I love this dremel!! It holds it charge at full speed for a good length of time. I use it for engraving in stone (which I'm told it's really not meant for) and I use a high speed setting for what I'm doing and it holds it's charge. A lot of tools will start of good and then seem to quickly drain, but this one doesn't. I've never actually timed how long the charge actually lasts but I have been pleasantly surprised how long it does last.

For all you Bosch tool lovers out there this review will make you sick and I for one am one lucky guy. Check this out, About 2 weeks ago I was in my local Lowe's store and was approached by the tool guy he had the CPK51-18 display on sale for $258.00 because he could'nt find the batteries, charger or bag for the kit. And offered it to me I thought about it for a few minutes and thought without the batteries and charger I had no use for it and decided against it pretty much forgot about it until yesterday when I went into Lowe's for some deck screws there was the tool guy again and again he offered it to me and had said he found the batteries but even at that price I wasn't sure without the cahrger, Here's the kicker, I asked him how much he wanted for it now he said it's gotta go "how about the whole kit and two batteries never used for $31.04"Yes thirty on dollars and four cents, for that price I could'nt refuse and spent the extra for the charger I think when all was said and done with everthing taxes and all I paid $124.00. Now thats lucky. As far as the kit goes it's awsome especially the impact driver I'll never use a drill again to sink screws for decking or anything for that matter.Haven't had a chance to try out the rest of the tools but I'm sure there just as awsome. We happen to know a particular hound named Sophie whos endured more than her share of cracked nails and bleeding nail beds, the result of the standard guillotine-type nail trimmers. Though she was a bit wary of the Dremel, she sniffed at it and decided it was harmless. Then we set it on the floor and turned it on. Sophie seemed concerned for a minute, but then lost interest. We let her get used to the sound of the Dremel for a few minutes, then got down to business. We expected her to cringe and pull away when we took paw in hand, for what usually follows is not pleasant for her. She submitted reluctantly at first to the Dremel, probably expecting the worst, but once we distracted her with a piece of rawhide, she forgot about the nail hubbub and let us carry on. The whole thing was quick and painless, which made a change for Sophie, and was actually kind of soothing for the humans, which definitely made a change for us. We followed the advice in the manual and alternated between two paws at a time, not keeping the abrasive on any nail for more than a couple of seconds, and we made sure each nail was cool before grinding it a second time. If we had a criticism, it would be to wish only that Dremel would include the -inch drum for larger dogs like Sophie as well as the smaller one. Other than that, its a tail-wagger.

I have Westies and have for years been using the old type nail clipper. WELL NO MORE. Westies are not that fond of having their nails clipped in the first place but this works great. No more sharp edges, no more cutting in the quick and no more worring if the blades on the clipper are sharp enough. This is easy to use since there is no cord and easy to charge so you can grab and go. I recommend to anyone who has pets, this is the perfect solution, the only question I have is to myself, why did I wait so long to get one:)

Both my large dog and I hated clipping his nails. I picked this

up few years ago after reading some reviews and have never looked back.

Not having to worry about cutting off too much nail makes it much

less of a chore. It has plenty of power for the job, the batteries last

through quite a few clippings and I don't have to worry about working around a cord.

I can't imagine going back to a clipper.

I have an old Dremel MiniMite that I use on my cats claws. The only difference I can see from the pet version is the MiniMite has a rechargeable battery and a few different bits. Pet version rpm's is a little higher. The MiniMite does what I need it to do. My cat doesn't seem to mind as long as I use the slow speed. I'm not sure if it also makes a difference that I changed the sanding tube to a finer grit than the one it originally came with. I think the vibration is the issue not the noise. I decided this because I have an extremely loud vacuum cleaner and my cat will continue to nap when I am vacuuming just a few feet from her. She doesn't even flinch. I think it's what she feels, not what she hears, that disturbs her.

I use the Soft Paw nail caps on her. When they fall off, the nail underneath is long and sharp. I still have to trim the tips of the nails with the nippers then use the Dremel to file the nail down to where I need it and sand away the old glue. I have a video on YouTube that I took of my cat when I was replacing a cap. MissBiscuit823, "Kitty gets her manicure". You can see how she jerks away when I forget and put it on the high speed. She is so good when I do her nails but I can tell you that didn't happen overnight. It takes time and patience to get your pet to accept the whole nail grooming process. You can expect your pet to be resistant in the beginning.

There are lots of videos on YouTube where people and professionals give tips on how to do your pets nails. There's some very good tips but also a lot of videos where you can clearly see what the pet owner is doing wrong! I've seen people trying to use Pedipaws which is like a Dremel and they are doing it totally wrong and frightening their pet. In the end they decide the product is to blame when it's obviously not the tool that's the problem.

Also, I know several manicurists that use the Dremel to sand away callouses from the feet when doing pedicures. Don't know how they sanitize it but there's another use for the Dremel you may not have thought of.
