I bought this tool for two reasons. I needed new batteries for my Bosch 18V drill and didn't want to pay the high price for just the batteries. I also wanted (not necessarily needed) an impact driver and buying this tool also got me new batteries to use with the drill.
The Bosch 23628 Impactor does an amazing job at driving long screws and lags into hard, dense wood, although you may break a few more screws with it. You have to ease up a bit when you're getting close to the end or you'll drive the screw deeply below the surface. The tool is much lighter and faster than using a drill-driver, and reduces hand and arm fatigue when you have a lot of long screws to drive.
The collet is designed to grip a bit that has a groove on its end. These bits are a little longer than the ones that typically come with a box of screws. I needed to drive some square head screws and only had a short bit without the groove. The Bosch did the job just fine, but when I was done I found that the bit had jammed itself into the collet so badly that I couldn't get it out, no matter what I tried. There was so little of the bit projecting beyond the collet that pliers and Vicegrips just slid off. I got in touch with Bosch customer service and they said they had no tricks to remove the stuck bit. Fortunately, I was within my 30 day Amazon guarantee period and was able to swap it out. Later, someone told me that he had the same problem and was able to grip the end of the bit and remove it with a pair of end cutting pliers, but I haven't personally verified that technique works.
I like the Bosch Impactor a lot, but I'm disappointed that there isn't an easier way to remove a stuck bit.

I have purchased this impact driver a little while ago and very happy with it and recommend it to anyone. I was skeptical at first to go online and buy it not knowing what will i get but took a chance and bought it anyway. Came as prommised ontime. I have 18 volt set and needed charger and more batteries for it so this purchase is what i wanted and needed. I've read some reviews about it as well and someone was very unhappy about this drill- i think the person doesn't know anything about tools or needed money back that's all. I own sawzal, drill, skills saw, jig saw, and now impact driver, use them a lot, and they are great tools. The impact drives screws like it's suppose to.

I own this and love it. The only problem you have with it is you better make sure you are lined up with screw before starting the driver. I have driven 3.5 inch drywall scrws thru treated wood makes you say wow. Great product would highly recommend

I am commenting on this junk because I am purchasing a replacement for my brother. Here are 3 major problems with this drill. 1) batteries will not charge in cold weather. 2)Tool clip will not hang effectivly. 3) Will not survive a 10' drop. Thus me here commenting on this junk, tool clip failed, fell off a 10' eve and smashed in half at handle. I would recommend the Makita 18v Lithium Ion impact driver which is lighter comes with a clip that works is as every bit as powerful, and charges in the cold. Ive had mine for over two years with zero problems.

I have owned several impactors and used others this is by far the best. Great torque and stamina. I have been happy with bosch 18 volt tools for years and this is the best of the lot. Very good warrantee as well provided you register your tool.
